I have been exploring different physicality’s for the one central character. Both: male and female, young and old.

After a 20 year break from the visual arts, I have returned to it searching for something other than the toils of working life. All of my previous work has been within the fields of painting and sketching, so it seemed appropriate to take up the challenge of creating in three dimensions.

This recent series is based around the human anatomy and was created as part of a research program with the University of Newcastle.

Most of this series is hand formed using pinch, coil and slab methods in Raku clays; fired then painted. The monochrome finishes shown here were part of a series of 8 works all finished in the same style to promote an accord between the works and to direct the eye to the forms rather than the finish.
