Celebrating 20 Years
Back to Back Galleries opened in March 1992 and through the contributions of many volunteers in the twenty years since has hosted around 300 exhibitions featuring the work of local artists - particularly ceramic artists and potters. Join us at exhibitions throughout 2012 - our year of celebrations.

Newcastle Studio Potters Inc. is proud to celebrate the 20th anniversary of: BACK TO BACK GALLERIES
We are inviting members to participate in a special exhibition to mark the occasion: Tiles Tell Tales.
We would like to see the gallery filled with beautiful ceramic tiles to commemorate the transformation of the butchers shop into Newcastle’s home of ceramics.
Our first workshop, on November 20th was a great success with over 20 tilers having a fabulous time as you will see by clicking on the video link below. Our second free workshop will take place on Sunday 26th February. Please join us to tell tales on tiles.
The exhibition will run from 20th April to 6th May 2012. Details on the exhibition and workshops can be found in the attached document.

Anything Goes features new work from ceramic students at the Hunter TAFE and the University of Newcastle.
Be inspired by the creativity and new directions being taken by our newest ceramic artists.
Upcoming Exhibition (Feb 17 - Mar 4): domestic realism
Please join us at Back to Back Galleries (57 Bull St, Cooks Hill) at 6pm on Friday February 17th for the opening of domestic realism.
On the walls, oil paintings of ceramic still lifes and favourite objects. On the plinths, ceramic objects and domestic pieces. Together they portray a domestic realism.
The oil paintings are the work of Sally Behrens whose earlier work in commercial design has transitioned to fine arts and is expressed through oil paintings on canvas.
Sally is joined by four of Newcastle Studio Potters finest ceramic artists: Sandra Burgess, Barbara Greentree, Sharon Taylor and Anne Too.
The exhibition is open from February 17th to March 4th: Fri, Sat, Sun 11-5.
Artist invitation - small: matters of time
Artists are invited to participate in Back to Back Galleries annual "small" exhibition. The title of this years exhibition is small: matters of time. The exhibition will take place from March 30 to April 15, 2012.
